Fort Worth Chiropractor Dr. Chris Michlin is the only Board Certified Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractor in Fort Worth & North Texas. He specializes in the Atlas Orthogonal (AO) Adjusting Technique, which is gentle and specific upper cervical care, coupled with a wide range of full spine adjusting techniques.
Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic care comes from many years of clinical research pointing to the fact that much of the problem associated with spinal misalignment and its consequences can be associated with the atlas vertebra, the top cervical bone in the neck. This one bone can affect the alignment of the entire spine. The spine is like a chain-when the first link is twisted and turned, each link down to the last turns-thereby disrupting the rest of the chain. Consider the atlas the first and therefore the most important link in that chain. The human body is balanced when the head is positioned in the center of the feet. When the atlas is misaligned it causes the head to tilt. The spine then shifts to support the weight of the head, thereby creating bio-mechanical and postural stresses and strains. When the atlas bone is properly aligned, that is in the orthogonal-or neutral-position, the rest of the spinal vertebra come into better alignment allowing the body to heal itself. The delicate and complex connections of the nervous system allow communication between the systems of the body.
Many studies have found this treatment effective in both adults and children, even possibly reducing the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in babies. Our patients have reported that the AO technique has reduced or eliminated migraine headache pain, face pain (Trigeminal Neuralgia), bed wetting, ear infections, allergies, high blood pressure, and other common ailments.
Fort Worth headache, migraine and back pain patients have all seen an improvement after AO treatments. Those with upper cervical pain, sciatica, scoliosis, chronic migraines, headache pain, and other spinal related problems have all seen a reduction in pain and re-occurrences of symptoms after AO treatments from Dr. Michlin.
Patients with other life changing neurological disorders have also found relief through the AO technique, including Chiari Malformation Syndrome and Multiple Sclerosis to name a few. Chiari Malformation Syndrome is characterized by a structural defect in the part of the brain that controls balance, causing pain and problems with movement. Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. Patients with fibromyalgia, a disease that causes body wide pain in joints and tendons, have also seen a remarkable benefit.
Through intervention using the Atlas Orthogonal Adjusting technique, as well as a wide range of full spine care, most patients are able to improve their condition and resume many normal activities. Imagine, a life lived to the fullest and no longer hindered by chronic pain!
